Earlier this year, the Royal Horticultural Society launched its Greatest Show in Earth campaign, a celebration of the breathtaking year-round beauty of their five gardens across the UK. The RHS produced a stunning promotional video to mark the campaign, and at around 33 seconds in, you can spot one of David’s kinetic sculptures doing what it does best, moving elegantly in the open air.
A Long Relationship With the RHS
David’s connection with the RHS goes back many years. One of his earliest major commissions was the Kinetic Seed Sculpture for RHS Hyde Hall in Essex, a piece that has now stood in all weathers for well over a decade, a testament to the durability and engineering behind each work. He has also exhibited at RHS Chelsea Flower Show and RHS Harlow Carr in Harrogate.
Being included in an official RHS campaign video, even briefly, is a reflection of how naturally David’s work belongs in these kinds of landscapes, sculpture that doesn’t sit in a garden so much as become part of it.
