INSPIRATION
‘Olive Leaf’ is engineered to oscillate on the breath of a wind and has a truly mesmeric movement. The silver leaves are made from Stainless Steel, they can either be highly polished or be ground with swirling facets which reflect the light in an almost holographic way.
VARIATIONS
The plinth on this piece is around 1.8 m high meaning that the wings turn above head height. It can be made from Corten or galvanised steel.
Weathering Steel (cor-ten) is a steel alloy which does not require painting and acquires a stable, rust-like appearance over time. It’s surface has a matt textured finish with a wonderful depth of colour which changes from a light orange to a deep purple over the decades.
Galvanised Steel with a mordent finish leaves a soft textured matt surface with a wonderfully interesting pewter/lead colouring that will darken when wet.
